Summary

Our goal as a community is to provide for our residents and visitors safe, habitable housing which meets defined codes that all elements of the community, regardless of age, social status, or disability can find to meet their needs. Diversity of construction, with regard to energy efficiencies should be encouraged. How to get to noble and lofty goals: Capital improvements extending outside municipal limits Incentives for building “affordable” housing Incentives for energy efficient designs Incentives for large employers that encourage employees to live near employment Sectorize, based on need, the “housing issue”i.e., one-size fits all approach by gov’t fiat does not work Develop an urban service area around the individual communities that have “hard zoning” implications so a developer knows that he has one set of meetings which results in one set of uniform permits that will allow him/her to develop in a time/capital efficient manner with resultant cost savings to ultimate consumer Ultimately, we have to struggle with the quandary is it a right or a privilege to own property.
