Summary
Tho residents of Gunnison County recognize the profound impact of the actions of mankind on the inter-relationships and factors of the envirenaent; particularly the profound influences of population growth, high Ceneity urbanisetion, inéusirial and commercial expansion, resource exploitation, end technological advances. The resi- dents of this county also recognize the impertence of maintaining and/or restoring enviromental quality for the overall welfare, health, safety, and progression of mankind, in particular for the residents of Gunnison County, not only of this genera~ tion but those of generations yet unborn. It-ia therefore the continuing policy of Gunnison County, in cooperation with all other concerned public and private ergenizetions and persons: to use all practicable means and measvrcs to foster and promote the general welfare, health and safety; to create and maintain conditions under which mon and nature can co-oxist in wroductive harmony; and to fulfill. the social, economic, and other needs of this and future gen- erations o Gunnison County has been experiencing groxth with respect to its population, housing, economy, land development, wtilization of reseurces, end demands upon public ser- vices and facilities. This recent grouth has occured over approximately the last decade and appears to be accelerating.
