Crested Butte is in Danger and you can help, ‘This valley with its exquisite mountain scenery, its vast open expanses, its superb recreational opportunities and its delightful climate attracts an ever increasing number of visitors, The permanent population of the Town, which hovered under 200 just a decade ago, has now reached over 700 and development plans for this valley already exceed 28,000, Despite the area's rugged beauty and seemingly indestructable natural resources, the valley is in actuality exceedingly fragile, and highly susceptible to development, #nvironmental qualities prized most by both residents and visitors are easily destroyed by uncontrolled growth, like that occuring on the front range, and on the east and west coasts, Recognizing the problem and refusing to sit idly by while the beauty of this valley irrevocably perishes, a group of concerned local citizens has formed the Crested Butte #nvironmental Action Com- mittee, Our aim is to halt unplanned, uncontrolled, unneeded growth, We are not isolationists er elitist, but we do demand that the voice of the environment be heeded, so that this valley remains an outstanding place to visit and live, toward this end we are soliciting your support on several
