1 m Resolution topographic aspect "westness" for the Upper Gunnison Basin derived from 2015 and 2019 LiDAR data

Description

<p>This is a 1 m resolution map of the relative "westness" of topographic aspect, computed from the cosine of the topographic aspect using the equation: </p><p>cos(aspect_radians) * -1 </p><p>Where the aspect is computed clockwise with east having a value of 0. In this map, east-facing aspects have a value of -1 and west-facing aspects have a value of 1. North and south-facing aspects both have a value of 0. The original aspect map was derived from a 1m Digital Elevation Model (DEM) for the Upper Gunnison River derived from public LiDAR datasets. The primary data source was a 2019 LiDAR collection for Gunnison County. A small portion of the upper basin was not covered by this dataset, and for those areas, data from a 2015 aquisition was substituted.</p>
