The following paragraphs are taken from the nomination, These are some of the most relevant questions asked by the State Land Board 1. What are the existing surface uses of the property? The current use of the property is livestock grazing and a single track trail for intermediate to expert mountain bike users, John Malensek, a local rancher, has a lease on the this State parcel for livestock grazing. The lease number is $39825. Gunnison County has a lease on this State parcel for use of the Upper Loop trail. There are no buildings on the property but there are fences along the south and west sides of the property. 5, Describe any local, regional, state or federal efforts that are consistent with - or conflict with - managing to protect and enhance the beauty, natural values, open space, and. wildlife habitat on adjacent lands and /or regionally. The attached Future Land Use Map from the Crested Butte Master Plan indicates that this State parcel and lands to the west and south of this State parcel are all targeted for open space uses. The Crested Butte Master Plan is the only plan we know of that addresses land uses in the vicinity of this State parcel. The Crested Butte Land Trust has been working since 1992 to help create the buffer between the towns as described in the three mile plans for each town. To date, 11 parcels have been deed restricted or acquired and preserved for permanent open space between the two towns. If this State parcel is preserved as open space, and if two more parcels are
