The High Country Citizens' Alliance, a Colorado non- profit public interest organization located in Crested Butte Colorado has recieved and reviewdyour Record of Decision in regards to the Oh Be Joyful Wilderness Study Area. We wish to offer the following comments and recomendation. In reviewing the process leading to your Record of Decision we note that as directed by P.L. 96-560, the Colorado Wilderness Act of 1980 the United States we released the Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the Oh Be Joyful Wilderness Study Area on June 4, 1981. Nearly four years later (EELS on May _8, 1985 the Final eRe), Impact Statement was © issued. Your Record of Decision was gigned on July 24, 1985 and tYAsmitted to High Country Citizens' Alliance on August 19, 1985. You were directed by P.L. 96-560 to provide Congress with more information relative to subsurface mineral potential and to determine wheather the area is suitable for inclusion in the National Wilderness Preservation System by December, 1983. Your decision is based upon the FEIS as you indicate.
