Description

This is a map of vegetation canopy height above the ground for the Upper Gunnison River Basin based on 2015 and 2019 LiDAR data. Height is measured in meters. This dataset was generated from the original point clouds using a pit-free algorithm implemented in the R package lidR. The ground-classified points were first used to generate a bare-earth surface, which was subtracted from the point cloud elevation. The canopy surface was then modeled with a pitfree algorithm using the ground-normalized point cloud. Topographic artifacts and structures were removed from the dataset by clipping building footprints present in the Bing buildings dataset.
