<p>This map represents the estimated on-road and off-road travel time in minutes from Crested Butte via the fastest travel means available (snowmobiles excluded). Estimates apply for summer (snow-off) conditions after all roads have been opened to vehicle traffic. This map was generated with the cost distance GRASS GIS module (r.cost) using estimated travel speeds (in minutes / pixel) as the cost function. Corresponding speeds in km / hr are below: </p><p>Highway: 80 kph, Paved road: 55 km kph Dirt / 4wd road: 15 kph Trail: 5 kph Off-trail in meadow/open : flat 3 kph &gt; 45% slope 0.01 kph Off-trail in forest: flat 2 kph &gt; 45% slope 0.01 kpg Surface water: 0.01 km/hr</p>
