Description

This dataset is a styled basemap depicting hydrologic variables of interest in the Upper Gunnison domain overlaid on high-resolution topography, optimized for fast display on web maps and mobile devices. The underlying datasets are available as part of Release 3 of the RMBL Spatial Data Platform.

The color scale for hydrology-related features on this map ranges from gray for dry slopes, light blue for wet slopes and small ephemeral drainages, moderate blue for wet areas and small streams, and dark blue for open water and large streams and rivers. Areas outside of the drainage network are shaded according to the multiscale height-above-stream wetness index. Using this index, areas that have flat topography and are close to the elevation of the local stream network are assumed to be wetter.

The download link to this dataset accesses a version of the basemap stored as a Cloud-optimized Geotiff (COG). The web map link accesses a version that can be added to a web map on ArcGIS Online.
